Damien Judd, has always had a deep love for horses. His first words were "my pony" and he even insisted that he start showing Arabians at the ripe old age of nine. In the following years, horses took a back seat role for Damien, as he went on to pursue representative sport.  However a severe bout of depression in his late teens led him back to his first love; horses. At the age of eighteen, Damien purchased a Thoroughbred and commenced saddle training with some of Australia's best dressage riders. After many years riding in this discipline, he discovered David and Sandi Simons training and went on to complete an extensive 2 year apprenticeship with them.

Today, Damien is the principal of Moorlands Equestrian, a well-appointed, pasture-improved 100 acre horse property nestled in the foothills of Northern Tablelands in NSW  (12 kilometres north of Tamworth). Moorlands Equestrian is a quality training and agistment facility where Damien starts young horses, gives lessons to both riders and horses, attends to his show team, cares for broodmares and stands three stallions at stud.

Damien's motto is "Training for Success" and this motto is evidenced by not only his own considerable success in the show ring, but also by the continuous success of many of Damien’s students. As a trainer he has notched up major wins at Royal level Australian wide, along with outstanding achievements with his clients right up to the prestigious Grand National level.

Yet despite Damien's substantial success, he receives the greatest joy from reconnecting horse lovers with their passion and creating a training connection between horse and rider. Damien has proven to be a vital link in his clients’ journey to regain momentum and achieving their equestrian dreams.

Although experienced in disciplines such as: endurance, polocrosse, dressage, showing, drafting, trotters, breed classes and droving, Damien's clients say his finest qualities are his deep empathy, unique sense of humour and his ability to adapt to each individual’s coaching requirements to deliver “Training for Success” on any level.

Services at Moorland Equestrian include: starting horses under saddle, retraining, brood mare agistment, thoroughbred spelling, show preparation and private and group lessons.
